What's New, Beta 2012-05-02 (2-May-2012)
New Features:
  • Colors: New Active Viewport Title and Inactive Viewport Title options have been added to the list of colors that can be adjusted in Rhino Options.
Enhanced Features:
  • ApplyPlanarMapping: Planar mapping in Rhino now has two variants - UV only and UVW.  The previous style was UVW.  The new default is UV.  In the default style, all W coordinates for mapping are 0.0.  This means that a planar mapped 3D procedural texture like wood will not be 3D with UW only planar.  You will need to either select Planar (UVW) or a WCS projection to see 3D procedurals.

In addition, this fix changes the mapping widget associated with planar mapping to a 2-D version (for Planar UV).  The Planar UVW version is the same as before,

Finally, there is an additional prompt in the ApplyPlanarMapping command to select UV/UVW.  This is a change to scripting.
  • ArcBlend: New Trim and Join options have been added.
  • Layer/Worksession: Worksession options have been added to the Layer panel.

If you right-click on a worksession reference file layer (a layer whose filename is enclosed in square brackets), you will see a new popup menu at the top of the context menu (see attached image). If you right-click on a worksession reference file layer and an ordinary layer, you will not see this popup menu on the context menu.

The submenu items are equivalent in functionality to the buttons you see in the Worksession dialog, with the exception of "Refresh Model" which only refreshes the selected model (the Worksession dialog's Refresh button refreshes all models).

If you select more than one worksession reference file layer, the Set Active Model item will be grayed out. If a worksession reference file layer does not require refreshing, the Refresh Model item will be grayed out.
  • Mesh: Creating mesh objects far from the world origin has been improved by creating double-precision vertices.
  • Open:STL: Setting units is now allowed when opening/importing STL files.
  • Open:STL: Units are now set and displayed on opening an STL file.
  • Render: The default number of saved renderings has been reduced from 30 to 10.
Bug Fixes:
  • Bake: Baked textures did not survive transforms properly. This is fixed.
  • BlockEdit: A problem with the way Undo interacts with BlockEdit has been fixed.
  • Decals: Did not properly refresh in the viewport when a decal was updated.
  • Export: Objects in files with layouts did not properly export with layouts and details intact. This is fixed.
  • ExtendSrf: Several bugs fixed.
  • MergeFace: When selecting the second face, the first selected face was incorrectly selectable. This is fixed.
  • MeshCone: The Solid option was ignored. A solid cone was always created. This is fixed.
  • Splash and About: The recent files preview images were blank. This is fixed.

What's New, Beta 2012-04-25 (25-Apr-2012)
Enhanced Features:
  • LimitReferenceModel: A new Reset option has been added to remove the limit and restore the normal object view.
  • OffsetNormal: New direction arrows display and a Flip option has been added.
  • OffsetSrf: New Corners=Round/Sharp option has been added.
  • Open:DWG/DXF: On insert, units now default to the current file units.
  • Open: When Rhino opens a non-3dm model, the title bar now reflects the name of the model that was opened. When the model is saved for the first time, this model name is now the default but the process  is actually SaveAs so as to not overwrite any existing files of the same name without a warning.
  • Save:DWG/DXF: New Color by RGB / Color by AutoCAD Index options have been added.
  • Worksession: A new Browse option has been added to the command-line version.
Bug Fixes:
  • ApplyEdgeSoftening: The RemoveAll option did not work. This is fixed.
  • BlendCrv: A problem with editing the control points at certain view angles has been fixed.
  • Dimension: If the Inside option was set for dimension arrows, the dimension text did not clip the dimension line. This is fixed.
  • Export: The last-used file type was not remembered for the next export. This is fixed.
  • Hatch: Match did not allow matching a selected hatch style. This is fixed.
  • Layer: Inserting a sub-layer incorrectly changed the view of the layer list. This is fixed.
  • Menu: The recently-used file list shows files that have been deleted. This is fixed.
  • Mesh: Move, Scale, Rotate, Drag,... (any command that transforms geometry) has the potential to move that geometry's coordinates far from the origin. Now that mesh objects support and display double-precision vertices, these commands now have double-precision vertices turned on when the transformation will result in the object having "far from origin" coordinates.
  • OffsetSrf: The Solid option did not work correctly. This is fixed.
  • Python: A prompt to save the script when closing Rhino has been added.
  • Save:FBX: Layer names were not saved correctly to FBX from V5. This is fixed.
  • Worksession: The last folder navigated to for Attach was not retained for the next attachment. This is fixed.
Failure Bugs Fixed:
  • FilletEdge (2)
