What's New, WIP 2011-07-13 (13-Jul-2011)
Funciones mejoradas:

  • BlockManager
    • Added Select button that clears the current selection set and selects top-level instance references that match the ones currently selected in the Block Manager.
    • The Block list now selects blocks that match top level block references that are selected when the dialog is initially displayed.
    • All options now work with multiple select.
    • The Count output now works with multiple select and displays in a dialog that allows you to export the report to a CSV file or copy the results to the clipboard.
    • The Referenced By output now works with multiple select and displays in a dialog that allows you to export the report to a CSV file or copy the results to the clipboard.
    • Delete works for multiple items.
    • Export works for multiple selected items. If more than one item is selected, you are now prompted for a folder to export the selected blocks to; otherwise, if a single file is selected, you are just prompted for a file name. If more than one file is selected, an overwrite warning dialog will appear as needed that lets the user decide what to do with the name conflicts, it works similar to the overwrite warning in Windows File Explorer.
    • New block Preview for the currently selected block.
    • Multiple select now works for all Block Manager functions: Export, Delete, Update, Select, Count, etc.
  • Insert
    • Disabled the Link button when inserting non-3dm files, since we currently only support embed and embed with update for these files. These controls should be enabled and the check box should work.
    • Enabled Link and Embed controls when inserting 3dm files. If inserting a block, make these controls match the current block definitions settings.
    • If the block in the inserted file has the same id and the objects it uses have the same ids, the existing block definition is used; otherwise the block from the file inserted file is used and the name is incremented.
    • Non-3dm files can no longer be inserted with the Link option. These files can only use the Embed and Embed, Allow update options.
  • Save:STEP: Surfaces are no longer shrunk on export.
Solución de errores:
  • Block: Block definitions created by a Paste command were not deleted when the Paste command is undone. This is fixed.
  • BlockEdit: The warning message about locked or hidden objects incorrectly appeared when objects were deleted. This is fixed.
  • BlockManager: The Select button incorrectly selected locked or hidden instance references. This is fixed.
  • Import: Block definitions were not correctly handled when a file was imported. This is fixed.

Funciones mejoradas:
  • BlockEdit: If, while editing a block, some objects are hidden or locked, when the block is saved, a warning message about the hidden or locked object displays. A Yes response deletes the hidden or locked objects from the block definition. A No response shows or unlocks the objects and keeps them as part of the block definition.
  • BlockEdit: The block editor will now spawn a second Rhino session automatically when the selected block is a linked block.  If the selected block includes references to linked blocks then selecting the block in the tree will prompt you to edit the block definition externally.
  • BlockEdit: You can now double-click on a block instance to launch the BlockEdit command.

What's New, WIP 2011-03-30 (VS2010 Transition Build) (30-Mar-2011)
Funciones mejoradas:
  • 64-bit Plug-ins Must Be Updated: This build of Rhino 5.0 x64 is not compatible with previous 64-bit plug-ins. Please contact your plug-in vendors for updated 64-bit plug-ins.
  • RhinoScriptEditor missing from build: This build does not have RhinoScriptEditor; a new build will be released this week that includes the RhinoScriptEditor.
  • Smooth: a new FixBoundaries option keeps edges and endpoints from being included in the Smooth operation.
Meshes: Vertices along naked edges will not be modified. Curves: End control points will not be modified.
Surfaces: The control points along the boundaries of the surface will be modified. The edges and trims of trimmed surfaces will still be modified as they are now if the don't coincide with the surface boundary.
    Notes:
    • If all of the object control points are selected, Rhino perceives this as the whole object being selected.
    • If the FixBoundaries checkbox is checked, this will have an impact on closed curves and surfaces with seams or singularities that may not be desirable.
Solución de errores:
  • Extrusion objects: Extrusion subobject prepick should now work, and prepicked subobjects should work as input in commands, similar to polysurface subobjects. The subselection should persist when command ends. You can also drag/transform/gumball edit extrusion subobjects. The first edit converts the object into a polysurface.
Failure Bugs Fixed:

What's New, WIP 2011-03-24 (24-Mar-2011)
Nuevas funciones:
  • Statusbar > Info Pane: New feature. Right click the empty area next to "Filter" on the status bar, and select "Show info pane" to enable it. Right click the pane again to pop up a list of items that can be shown. Left click to toggle selection, right click to select one and deselect others. Click outside popup to close it. If multiple items are selected, the info pane cycles automatically from selected item to next. Information items available:
    • Dimension style
    • CPlane/UPlane (status)
    • CPlane name
    • Absolute tolerance
    • Angle tolerance
    • Minutes from last save
    • Current layer linetype
    • Current font (not sure if this makes much sense)
    • Memory use
    • Available physical memory
    • CPU use
    • Lens length/View size (works as a perspective/parallel indicator too)
    • Notes (status)
    • Selected object count
    • Selected object layer
    • Number of off layers
    • Relative coordinates and angles
    • Curve parameter/UV coordinates
Funciones mejoradas:
  • Angle constraint in elevator mode: Angle constraint can now be used for finalizing the pick in elevator mode. An example: Run the Line command, pick one point, move the mouse and activate elevator (press Ctrl) for the second point, type <30. A line is drawn at 30 degree slope off the construction plane, ending on the elevator line.
  • Autocomplete: New setting - Tools > Options > Appearance: Use fuzzy autocomplete. When enabled, inline autocomplete suggests the most used candidate ( LI most likely autocompletes to Line instead of LimitReferenceModel), and the autocomplete menu contains best partial and inexact matches. When disabled, autocomplete uses the first letters of the command name in an alphabetical list.
  • BlockManager: Blocks nested in linked blocks will no longer appear in the Block Manager list.
  • BooleanDifference: Prompts changed to be more instructive.
  • FilletEdge: Continuing improvements for special cases.
  • Hatch: A selection of standard hatch patterns now always loads with Rhino.
  • Hatch: Hatch patterns are now previewed as they are applied with the Hatch command.
  • MakePeriodic: New Smooth option at the first prompt controls kink removal. With Smooth=Yes (default) the command smooths any kinks in the curve, and moving control points around to make a "nice looking" curve. With Smooth=No, control point locations are not changed or changed minimally (only only point may move) and basically just the knot vector is periodized.
  • PlanarSrf: History is now supported.
  • Sphere > 4Points: Work flow has changed slightly to clarify use of the Radius option.
  • Unwrap: Command options: Apply, Edit, and Cancel added.
  • UVEditor: Minor revisions and improvements.
  • Video clips on 64-bit systems: Will now play if you have Adobe Flash Player "Square" installed:  http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10_square.html. If you do not have Square installed, you will be directed to the Adobe web site where you can download the new player.
Solución de errores:
  • FilletEdge: The PreviousEdgeSelection option incorrectly did not work properly if the radius option was changed. This is fixed.
  • Groups: Control+Shift+clicking to select block that is in a group did not work. This is fixed.
  • Hatch: Changing the current layer during the hatch command failed to place the hatch on the new current layer. This is fixed.
  • Rectangle: Pressing the Shift key did not work properly in Rectangle Center to constrain a square. This is fixed.
  • SelLayer: Using the layer name: "Parent Layer::Sub Layer" did not correctly select the sublayer. This is fixed.
  • TextField: The date evaluater was not working. This is fixed.

What's New, WIP 2011-03-16 (16-Mar-2011)
Nuevas funciones:
  • Light-Weight Extrusion Objects: New feature. Rhino 5.0 has a new lightweight extrusion object that uses less memory, meshes faster, and saves smaller that the traditional polysurface used in Rhino 4.0. In Rhino 5.0 WIPs released on or after October 12, 2010, commands like Box and Cylinder create lightweight extrusion objects. Other commands like Pipe and ExtrudeCrv make lightweight extrusion objects when possible and make traditional polysurface objects when the resulting geometry is too wiggly to be handled by a lightweight extrusion object. For more information, see: http://wiki.mcneel.com/rhino/rhinov5status_extrusions

  • Dimension: A units bug with feet and inches has been fixed.
  • NamedView: Clipping planes were not properly saved and restored with views. This is fixed.
  • NewFloatingViewport: The NamedView option did not restore the construction plane associated with this view. This is fixed.
  • Open:FBX: Mesh vertex colors did not import correctly. This is fixed.
  • ShellPolysurface: Improvements made to remove unwanted faces.
  • Units: Start a file with an Inch template. In DocProperties, set units display to Feet and Inches. Measure a distance - the result was the correct number but reported as feet and not inches. This is fixed.
  • XRayViewport: Window zooming in x-ray views apparently it has never worked properly. This is fixed. X-ray and ghosted views now do a wireframe zoom first, and only if nothing is hit, does a a shaded zoom happen. That way you should be able to zoom through objects to the ones that you really want.

What's New, WIP 2010-10-14 (14-Oct-2010)
Nuevas funciones:
  • DimArea: New command. Creates text or a leader that displays the area of a closed curve, hatch, surface, or mesh.
  • DimCurveLength: New command. Creates text or a leader that displays the length of a curve.
  • UseExtrusions: New command. Controls what type of object is created by commands like Box, Cylinder, ExtrudeCrv, Pipe, and Slab. Extrusion objects use less memory and mesh faster. They are a good option when making models containing lots of simple shapes. The default for V5 is to use extrusion objects when possible. In some cases, polysurfaces may be preferred. The UseExtrusions command determines which type of object to use.  (Repeated from 10/4/2010)
Funciones mejoradas:

What's New, WIP 2010-10-13 (13-Oct-2010)
Nuevas funciones:
  • Mesh, subobject dragging: You can preselect any combination of mesh vertices, edges and faces, and then either drag, or use transform commands. Dragging is slightly different from full object dragging. Once you have picked the subobjects to drag, you can start dragging by grabbing the object anywhere, not just the selected subobjects.
  • SetDocumentUserText: New command. Plug-in deveopers will use this to attach their information to documents.  The Rhino commands SetDocumentText/GetDocumentText are necessary so scripters, developers, and users can view information that is in thier document.
  • Technical: New viewport display mode. Uses real-time silhouettes and intersections, creases, borders, blended shaded and rendered display. Objects behind other objects are occluded.
  • TextField: New feature. Text fields are a new feature for text and leaders. Text fields are "formulas" that are evaluated while Rhino is running and the result is displayed in the text. All text fields are in the syntax of %<field and options>%. When a formula cannot be evaluated an error string of #### is displayed.

When typing text, use the field syntax.

      syntax %<modelunits>%
Funciones mejoradas:
  • CommandHelp: Now displays on a docking tab.
  • Explode: When Explode is applied to an extrusion object, it is exploded into single faces as if it had been a surface/polysurface all along.
  • ExtendSrf should now work on trimmed and untrimmed surfaces.
  • Lasso now works in 3D instead of 2D and allows you you change the view (panning parallel views is the one that will always give predictable results) while selecting and should work even if the lasso region goes partially outside the viewport. In addition, the lasso feedback is now the Tracking color.
  • Lasso: Now uses Rhino's Tracking lines color set in Options: Appearance: Colors.
  • Loft: New SplitAtTangents option specifies whether resulting surfaces will be one surface or a polysurface if the input curves are joined tangent curves.
  • NewFloatingViewport: New Drag and drop. You can now create a new floating viewport by dragging a viewport title outside the Rhino window.
  • Notes is now a tabbed dock bar.
One thing to consider - the tab disappears when a new document is opened because this is the way the old notes docker worked.  Does this still make sense?  It's a bit odd when the tab suddenly disappears.
  • Osnap: Right clicking an osnap in the Osnap toolbar the second time will now restore the previous Osnap set, if there is one. Otherwise it will work like it used to, selecting all but the one you clicked.
  • Osnap: Vertex object snapping now pays attention to CullControlPolygon. If control polygon culling is on, Vertex osnap will not find mesh vertices from the back facing side of a mesh.
  • RailRevolve: New SplitAtTangents option specifies whether resulting surfaces will be one surface or a polysurface if the input curves are joined tangent curves.
  • Revolve: New SplitAtTangents option specifies whether resulting surfaces will be one surface or a polysurface if the input curves are joined tangent curves.
  • RhinoScript: Support added for extrusion objects.
Solución de errores:
  • Extrusion Object: Did not convert and paste to Rhino V4. This is fixed.

Funciones mejoradas:
  • Dimensions: A new method of creating dimension styles has been added to the Document Properties dialog box.
  • Gumball: Shift and Ctrl picks pass through autogumball to the objects underneath. The only exception is scale handles. Shift picking those still scales in all three dimensions.
  • Open:SKP: Rhino can now open SketchUp V8 files.
Solución de errores:
  • ExtrudeCrv: When the Cap option was set to Yes, the new SplitAtTangents option was ignored. This is fixed.

Nuevas funciones:
  • GetDocumentUserText: New command. Retrieves the text created with the SetDocumentUserText command.
  • SelPictureFrame: New command. Selects objects created with the PictureFrame command.
Funciones mejoradas:
  • Divide: A new GroupOutput option allows grouping of resulting point objects.
  • Drag and drop any supported file type that makes textures (bmp, png, jpeg, hdr, exr) does one of the following things:
    • If the drag is onto an object: The material on the object is either changed to set the diffuse texture to the dragged texture, or a new material is created with that texture in the Diffuse slot.
    • If the drag is into space: A dialog box appears with three options: PictureFrame, Wallpaper, Environment.
  • DragMode: The options in DragMode now work as toggles. If you select a mode that is already the current mode, the mode is reset to CPlane.
  • DragMode: The new ControlPolygon options allow dragging a curve/surface control point along the control polygons that connect to it.
  • Extrude: New SplitAtTangents option allows creating polysurfaces split at tangent arcs and tangent arcs to lines.
  • MoveUVN: New Along (control polygon) extensions mode. The control point will move along the imaginary extensions of the control polygon.
  • Osnap:Vertex: Now pays attention to control polygon culling setting. Vertices that would be culled if control points were on are not snapped to.
  • PictureFrame:
    • PictureFrame materials are now shown only in the Properties dialog, not in the Material Editor.
    • The Material Properties dialog box now displays the name of the bitmap.
    • SetObjectDisplayMode no longer affects how PictureFrame objects display. PictureFrame objects now always use Rhino's default "Rendered" display mode.
    • The Self-illumination setting has been changed to a Yes/No toggle.
Solución de errores:
  • ExtractSrf: Using the Copy option incorrectly unhighlighted the already picked faces, but they remained selected. This is fixed.

What's New, WIP 2010-08-31 (31-Aug-2010)
Nuevas funciones:
  • Dimensions and Text that are made in model viewports scale differently in layout viewports.
    • Text is now affected by Document Properties > Text > Model space text scale.
    • Dimensions are affected by Document Properties > Dimensions (style) Model space scale setting.
Note: Until the templates are updated, you need to run the TestAnnotationScaling command to turn this feature on in new files. The TestAnnotationScaling command turns the scaling on and off for both text and dimensions.

    Text:
A new Document Properties Text page contains Model space text scale setting that multiplies the text Height in standard model viewports.

When a new file is created, annotation scaling will be on and when an old file is read, it will be off. Since the settings are file properties, they depend on the template file used to determine if it is on or off in new files. Templates are not yet updated to have it turned on.

It is important to adjust the height of the text after turning on Annotation Scaling.

For example, if the text height is set to 1, it will be 1" in a layout. Adjust the text height to 1/8" or 1/4" or whatever plotted text height you want.

Layout scaling is a new per-object property for text.
The Create Text and Properties dialog box have new checkboxes to turn Layout scaling on and off.

Layout scaling is on and Annotation scaling is on:
    • In model viewports: The text Height value multiplied by the global Model space text scale value determines the text size.
    • In a detail: The text size is determined by the text Height value multiplied by the zoom factor of the detail. Text appears on the paper at the basic text size.
    • In layout viewport, not in a detail: Text appears on the paper at the basic text size.
Layout scaling is off or Annotation scaling is off:
    • No change - Text Height is controlled only by the Height property of individual text.
    Dimensions
Set the Scale in the Dimension Style dialog box.

    Dimensions:
    Annotation Scaling on:
    In model viewports:
    • No change - the size is determined by the dimension style Layout sizes values multiplied by the dimension style Model space scale value.
In a Detail (layout viewports or model viewports):
    • The dimension size is determined by the dimension style Layout sizes values multiplied by the zoom factor of the detail.
    • Dimensions appear at dimension style Layout sizes values in layout space units - 1/8" high text is 1/8" high on the paper.
In Layout viewports (not in a detail):
    • Only the dimension style Layout sizes values determine what you see - 1/8" high text is 1/8" high on the paper.
    Dimensions: Annotative Scaling  off:
    • No change - The the dimension style Sizes value multiplied by the dimension style Scale value applies in both model and layout viewports.
    Notes:
    • In Perspective views in details, the target point is significant in setting the text size for annotation scaling.  The target point should probably be on the plane of the annotations.
    • You can turn Layout scaling on and off per object for text but not for dimensions.
  • SelectionFilter: The first attempt to make the subobject prepick pay attention to SelectionFilter is now in. Right now it only affects polysurface face and edge picking. The edges are essentially curves, and polysurface faces are surfaces. So, if you unselect "Curves", edges won't select when you Control+Shift+click. If you unselect "Surfaces", polysurface faces won't select.

  • Save: Reading and writing files larger than 4 GB is now supported.  This required a change in the file format. The latest Rhino 5.0 WIP will read any files. Using the SaveAs command, you can save files for V2, V3 or V4. If you save a V5 file that supports larger files and try to read it in an older Rhino V5 WIP, the older Rhino V5 WIP will tell you the file was written by a newer version of Rhino.  The fix is to download the newest V5 WIP.

    • Topics are divided into single subjects for the most part.
  • Layer: The layer dialog now displays a warning message if you attempt to turn off or lock the parent of the current layer.
  • Open:STL: New dialog box controls the geometry from the STL file format. The Weld option determines whether the mesh will be welded automatically on import. The WeldAngle option sets the angle at which the automatic weld will be performed.  The Split option determines whether disjoint pieces of a mesh will be automatically split up on import.
  • Osnap: Osnaps now show object perpendiculars and object tangents. If the base point of a move or drag operation is snapped to an end or mid point of a curve or edge, there is an "Object perp" or "Object tan" flag available indicating when the curve or surrface edge is perpendicular to a target curve or edge. This is in addition to the usual Perp and Tan flags that show up when the trajectory of the move or drag is perp to a curve or edge.
  • Osnap: You can now press Alt before starting to drag to disable/enable osnap for the drag base point.

  • SelBrush: New commmand. Selects objects based on painting a thick brush stroke. It supports click-and-drag or repeatedly clicking to draw the stroke. By default it uses crossing select: Objects touched by the stroke are selected. A SelectionMode=Window/Crossing/InvertWindow/InverCrossing option controls the behavior. The BrushWidth setting controls the brush width in pixels.
  • SelBrushPoints: New command. Similar to SelBrush, but with real time feedback of the selection. Since it has be really fast, it can only work on objects that are easy to test, like points and control points.
