What's New, WIP 2010-08-31 (31-Aug-2010)
New Features:

  • Dimensions and Text that are made in model viewports scale differently in layout viewports.
    • Text is now affected by Document Properties > Text > Model space text scale.
    • Dimensions are affected by Document Properties > Dimensions (style) Model space scale setting.
Note: Until the templates are updated, you need to run the TestAnnotationScaling command to turn this feature on in new files. The TestAnnotationScaling command turns the scaling on and off for both text and dimensions.

    Text:
A new Document Properties Text page contains Model space text scale setting that multiplies the text Height in standard model viewports.

When a new file is created, annotation scaling will be on and when an old file is read, it will be off. Since the settings are file properties, they depend on the template file used to determine if it is on or off in new files. Templates are not yet updated to have it turned on.

It is important to adjust the height of the text after turning on Annotation Scaling.

For example, if the text height is set to 1, it will be 1" in a layout. Adjust the text height to 1/8" or 1/4" or whatever plotted text height you want.

Layout scaling is a new per-object property for text.
The Create Text and Properties dialog boxe have new checkboxes to turn Layout scaling on and off.

Layout scaling is on and Annotation scaling is on:
    • In model viewports: The text Height value multiplied by the global Model space text scale value determines the text size.
    • In a detail: The text size is determined by the text Height value multiplied by the zoom factor of the detail. Text appears on the paper at the basic text size.
    • In layout viewport, not in a detail: Text appears on the paper at the basic text size.
Layout scaling is off or Annotation scaling is off:
    • No change - Text Height is controlled only by the Height property of individual text.
    Dimensions
Set the Scale in the Dimension Style dialog box.

    Dimensions:
    Annotation Scaling on:
    In model viewports:
    • No change - the size is determined by the dimension style Layout sizes values multiplied by the dimension style Model space scale value.
In a Detail (layout viewports or model viewports):
    • The dimension size is determined by the dimension style Layout sizes values multiplied by the zoom factor of the detail.
    • Dimensions appear at dimension style Layout sizes values in layout space units - 1/8" high text is 1/8" high on the paper.
In Layout viewports (not in a detail):
    • Only the dimension style Layout sizes values determine what you see - 1/8" high text is 1/8" high on the paper.
    Dimensions: Annotative Scaling  off:
    • No change - The the dimension style Sizes value multiplied by the dimension style Scale va
    Enhanced Features:
    • EditPythonScript: the text editor now has an option to adjust the font type and size.
    • SelectionFilter: The first attempt to make the subobject prepick pay attention to SelectionFilter is now in. Right now it only affects polysurface face and edge picking. The edges are essentially curves, and polysurface faces are surfaces. So, if you unselect "Curves", edges won't select when you Control+Shift+click. If you unselect "Surfaces", polysurface faces won't select.
    Bug Fixes:
    • ExtractSrf: Using the Copy option incorrectly unhighlighted the already picked faces, but they remained selected. This is fixed.
    • Gumball: Undo left the gumball widget in the wrong location. This is fixed.
    • Move: Typing 0 incorrectly used the World origin, not the construction plane origin. This is fixed.
    • Python: New functions:
      • AddCylinder
      • IsPointOnSurface
